The National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP) was established in 2005, under the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo, with the aim to improve the health and educational outcomes of public primary school pupils. It also focuses on local farmers produce to provide children with nutritious mid-day meals on every school day, beginning with 12 states selected from the six geopolitical zones.
In 2024, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu restructured the NHGSFP through his RENEWED HOPE AGENDA, with the aim to feed over 10 Million Nigerian Pupils and reduce the out of school Children under the able leadership of the just appointed National Program Manager Dr Princess Adebowale Aderemi which on the mandate of the President renamed the program as the RENEWED HOPE – NATIONAL HOME GROWN SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAM (RH-NHGSFP)
To cultivate a healthier and more educated generation by way of reducing poverty through an holistic approach to school feeding, by supporting small holders farmers through locally sourced food vis a vis fostering national growth

By 2025, achieve a 20% increase in school enrollment and attendance rates, and a 15% improvement in students’ academic performance in participating schools, while providing a stable market for local farmers, resulting in a 10% rise in their annual income.
Princess Adebowale's diverse professional background is notable. She is a dedicated mother and a nurse by profession, and her dual PhDs highlight her commitment to public health and early childhood development. As an administrator and politician, she has proven her ability to manage and implement programs effectively. From 2019 to 2023, she served as the Special Adviser on Civic Engagement to the Governor of Lagos State, where she initiated numerous welfare programs that greatly benefited the citizens.
Her tenure as the sole administrator of Iru-VI from 2015 to 2016 further showcases her administrative capabilities. During this period, she launched several initiatives that had a significant positive impact on the community.
Princess Adebowale also played a pivotal role as the Secretary of the Southwest Humanitarian during the recent presidential election. Her coordination of the Southwest and Yoruba leaders of thought programs in Lagos State was instrumental in uniting traditional rulers and civil society members.
